Michael McCloskey has written an interesting trilogy (Synchroncity: Insidious, Industrious & Ingenious). As I read the first two volumes, my major complaint was the "cardboard" alien villains. They were just TV monsters whose motivations were opaque to the human characters as well as the reader. This book takes care of that criticism completely. I now understand the intent of the trilogy -- to tell essentially the same story from three points of view. One of the most interesting "characters" turns out to be an artificial intelligence introduced in the first volume -- but I won't spoil the story! There were a few typos or misprints here and there but the writing overall in this series is decent.I actually enjoyed McCloskey's Trilisk Ruins book better and I strongly recommend it. It may all eventually tie together (if there are more books in McCloskey's universe) but I thought the aliens were much more interesting in that story.

This one was hard to get into but was satisfying in the end and left me anticipating a continuation of the story.
have read the whole searies, fast pace and keeps reader wanting more. not deep but entertaining.THE BEGINNING Book Two (THE EVENT)
Great culmination to this 3 books series, each book telling the same tale from a different viewpoint.
I first discovered that this trilogy was not three books in sequential order, but 3 different points of view of the same timeline, after reading the first one. I was a little hesitant to read the second and third books, thinking what could be added to the first book by telling the story again? Boy, was I wrong! I completly enjoyed all three of these fine works!
The series was very entertaining. It takes a page from Orson Scott Card and his Ender series. The author retells the same story, over three books, from the different perspectives of the main characters. It was like experiencing 3 dimensional story telling. The ending had a chilling Hitchcock or perhaps Rod Serling twist. Well done.
Nice ending to the trilogy with room left to extend it. Hope he does.
I really liked the first book and thought that it would make a good movie. The second book was the least interesting, but it did lend another point of view. In many ways this was the most interesting, since it saw the action from the alien's point of view. Michael McCloskey did a great job of showing motivations that were entirely "alien" to our way of thinking.
This book brought the trilogy to a satisfying conclusion, but left a slight glimmer of something else to come. I have read everything I can find from this author and it is all good. I just wish he would write some more. The "Parker Interstellar Travels" series is also good.
